So you want to be a professional chef, now what?

If you ask someone if they consider themselves to be a good cook, the majority of people would say that they are. But the truth is; they’re probably not. Anyone can throw an instant meal on the stove or in the oven and people will eat it. Does this make them a good cook? Didn’t think so.

To be a professional chef or even a good cook it takes passion, determination and a lot of skill. Ask any sous chef and they’ll agree. Do you think Gordon Ramsay became a world renowned chef without passion? His beat red face and uncontrollable anger is proof that he has a great passion for the culinary arts. Now, we’re not recommending that you go to your kitchen and start screaming at people, this wouldn’t make you a chef it would make you a ... Well, you know, not a nice person. But what we do suggest if you have the determination to become a professional chef is that you gain the knowledge and skills that are vital to this career

Without the proper training from experienced chefs, there is so much that you could be missing out on.  Experience is vital. With the right hands on training and with a lot of hard work, you’ll be well on your way to becoming the next Gordon Ramsay! Just try to be a little nicer than him when you do make it to the top.
